Global health team of SPH went to Peking University for a study exchange

In order to accelerate the construction of the Centre for Global Health, the Global Health Team, including Chair Professor Zhou Shuisen, Associate Professor Chen Tianmu, Postdoctoral Fellow Rui Jia and Doctoral student Chen Qiuping, went to the Institute for Global Health of Peking University on 3 July for exchange and learning. Professor Ren Minghui, Director of Peking University Institute for Global Health, and other persons in charge of research and teaching, international cooperation, etc. attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Prof Ren Minghui introduced the construction plan and development history of Peking University's Institute of Global Health, and shared the achievements and latest progress in the construction of global health disciplines, talent cultivation, scientific research, international co-operation and social services. Subsequently, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation.

As a next step, the school will actively exert its advantages in the research of diagnostic reagents and vaccines, and carry out multi-level and multi-form cooperation with the Institute of Global Health of Peking University, so as to build a global health centre with the characteristics of the school. The two sides will make use of the platform of China-ASEAN Public Health Cooperation Forum and China-ASEAN Public Health Science and Technology Cooperation Centre to co-host or host high-level meetings on global health and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation; explore cooperation mechanisms such as shared bases and mutual recognition of credits in postgraduate teaching; and combine with the geographic advantages of the School, cooperate at the technical level to carry out scientific research in Southeast Asian countries and across the Strait in the areas of healthcare systems, pension policies, mental health, etc.
