Recently, Dr. Chenxi Cai from our school was invited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to their headquarters in Switzerland to participate in an expert workshop focused on the promotion of international policies regarding athletes during pregnancy, the postnatal period, and childcare.

The workshop conducted an in-depth exploration of the various challenges that elite athletes encounter during and after pregnancy. It also addressed the necessary support and policy guidance required to assist these athletes. Experts discussed strategies to enhance international policy and practice, drawing on scientific evidence to inform and improve the support systems for athletes navigating pregnancy, the postnatal period, and childcare.
The workshop was also attended by experts from various countries, including Canada, the UK, and Australia, along with IOC staff and Olympic athletes. This diverse group contributed their insights and experiences, enriching the discussions around the challenges and support systems necessary for athletes during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
