Recently, the results of the 2024 "Huawei Cup" 21st China Graduate Student Mathematical Modeling Competition were announced, and our team was awarded the national second prize.
The China Graduate Student Mathematical Modeling Competition is one of the themed competitions of the "China Graduate Student Innovation and Practice Series Competition," guided by the Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and the China Academic Degree & Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, and hosted by the Association of Chinese Graduate Education and the Youth Science and Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology. It is an academic competition for graduate students to conduct applied research in mathematical modeling.
A total of 20,247 teams of graduate students from 521 graduate training units (including the international track) participated in the competition. After two phases of online and centralized evaluations by 814 members of the expert committee and invited experts, 242 teams were awarded the first class prize (1.19% of all participants), 2,742 teams received the second class prize (13.54% of all participants), and 3,927 teams were granted the third class prize (19.39% of all participants). The team consisting of Lin Shutian and Quan Jiali, PhD candidates in the 2024 intake of the Epidemiology and Health Statistics program, and Lin Guanxi, a Master's candidate in the 2024 intake of the Artificial Intelligence program, from the National Institute of Diagnostics and Vaccine Development for Infectious Diseases of our school, won the second class prize.
